Jazz Band 9 runs Tuesdays and Thursdays after school, 3:50 - 5:00 p.m.This is our Intermediate Jazz Ensemble and is comprised largely of Grade 9s. Students focus on the FUNdamentals of swing, as well as funk, blues, R&B and Rock. The #1 goal of this band is to learn while having FUN! Students will learn the skills to progress into the Advanced Jazz Band in their Grade 10 year, which rehearses Tuesdays and Thursdays before school. Students will also have the option to remain in the Intermediate Band for their Grade 10 year as well. Students must have at least 3 years of musical experience, including the ability to read sheet music, to sign up for this course. There is flexibility and accomodations available for students who wish to play sports after-school, so students do not need to choose between two passions. More than just Jazz, this band brings the party!
