ESL Level 3/4 supports senior high students who are developing intermediate academic English skills, particularly international students and newcomers to Canada, preparing for success in mainstream courses.
Students strengthen their ability to gather, organize, and communicate information in spoken and written English. They build academic vocabulary, summarize and synthesize ideas, compare and contrast concepts, and develop clear reports and presentations.
The course also focuses on effective communication in academic and social settings. Students express opinions, narrate events, respond to applications and questionnaires, and collaborate to solve problems and complete tasks.
Through the study of a variety of text forms, students develop reading comprehension, writing structure, and critical thinking skills. ESL Level 3/4 provides structured language support while increasing independence, helping students transition confidently into regular English and content-area classes.
