Course Description:
English 30-2/30-1 Combined
This course is for students who want to graduate with ELA 30-1 and build their reading and writing skills in order to apply to attend a post-secondary school that requires ELA 30-1.
The course will begin with a focus on ELA 30-2, and students will write the diploma exam for ELA 30-2 in November to ensure they have a grade 12 English course to graduate. After November, the course material will shift to ELA 30-1, and the focus will be on teaching the students how to read and write for the June ELA 30-1 diploma exam.
The reading and writing expectations of ELA 30-1 are different and more analytical than those of ELA 30-2; therefore, the student will have the time and opportunity to learn the complexities of the written portion of 30-1 and to develop the reading comprehension skills needed for ELA 30-1.
Because of the compressed schedule, regular attendance is required.
